When In Paris...

Hello!  It's Lisa here with you on this amazing Friday!  And I have some fun, rainy day watercoloring to share with you that features the stamp set In Paris by Penny Black.  Currently this specific set is sold out at the moment, but never fear the technique I've used on this set is perfect for many of the other Penny Black watercolor sets just like it.  For example the Garden Gems set or the Ravishing stamp set.  And if you really must have the In Paris set then you can add your name to the notification list and you'll receive an email when it is back in stock!

Now onto my project...

To achieve the hand watercolored look I started by stamping the image a few times with Distress Ink: Weathered Wood onto Arches Hot Press Watercolor Cardstock.  I then used other Distress Inks smooshed onto my glass mat and picked up using my water brush. Make sure you let each area dry before painting a section next to it or else you'll end up with a muddy smooshed looking image.  When everything was dry I added a few flicks of a darker blue ink for a more artsy feel, and for an imitation of raindrops.  Finally, I stamped my sentiment from the Altenew Stamp Set Be Strong.

What I love about this technique is that the Weathered Wood Distress Ink gave me distinct lines to follow, and took all of the guess work out of my painting. I also didn't get super creative in my color choices as I more or less looked at the cover of the stamp set for my inspiration.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and Happy Crafting!

Sometimes they just make coffee cups TOO small!

Hi! Kerys from Scrappin'n Happy here on the Crafty Doodle Chick blog today with a fun stamp from Penny Black!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I just CANNOT function until I have had lots of coffee in the morning! This stamps was just perfect for me! This stamp is called 'Cup of Java' by Penny Black, and is currently available in the Crafty Doodle Chick Store.

I stamped the image and used my prismacolor pencils to color it in. I used my Scan'n cut to cut it out.

I kept the background kind of random for a change! I used papers from Doodlebug's 'Cream & Sugar' paper pad along with some from my stash.

I used MFT's 'Stitched triple Peek-a-Boo Window and Edge die-namics to create the rounded border and circle from the coffee bean paper.

The sentiment is from the Penny Black 'Cup of Java' stamp set, and I made this into a banner, adding some bakers twine for added texture.

This was all created on a standard A2 white card base.

Birthday Bear with Studio Katia + SALE

Hello, hello!  It's Lisa here with a cute card featuring the ever lovable Kobi Bear from Studio Katia Designs.  This specific set called Kobi the Birthday Bear is perfect for kid birthday cards and you can even personalize them by adding their Birthday year onto your card.  As I don't have a specific person in mind for this card I kept it vague and able to be given to anyone...

To create this card I started by stamping the bear, gifts, cake and hat onto Smooth white cardstock.  I then colored all of my images in with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers, cut them out and set them to the side.  Next I added some balloons to a diecut panel, colored them in with the same markers and added color to the background with Spectrum Noir Distress Oxide Inks.  I then threw on a few splash marks and confetti with stickles.  My entire panel was then attached to the front of my cardbase and ta-da!

Isn't he just so sweet, waiting to blow out his candle?!  Love it!  Any who, I hope I've inspired you to give these Kobi sets a try or maybe I've inspired you to try creating your own Birthday scenes with stamps you might already own!

Happy Crafting!

Christmas in July

Hi! Kerys from Scrappin'n Happy here today with a super cute Studio Katia stamp.

I love the Kobi bear images from Studio Katia and I decided to use 'Kobi bearing Gifts' on this card. I wanted to show you that just because a stamp comes with a birthday theme, that it also makes an awesome Christmas card too! The stamp is currently available at the Crafty Doodle Chick Store.

I stamped the image and used my prismacolor pencils to color them in. I used my Scan'n cut to cut it out.

I kept the background pretty simple, using a standard A2 size white card base.  I added two strips of patterned paper from My Mind's Eye 'Winter Wonderland' collection to the side of the card.

I stamped the large sentiment from My Favorite Things 'Hand Lettered Christmas' clear stamp set and popped Kobi bear up on foam dots. I added some green enamel dots and Christmas sticker to finish the card off.

Fantastic Frame Fun on Friday

Hello!  Today is Friday the 13th and so I decided to make things something a little funky and fun to share with all of you today.

So often I get bogged down with trying to make things straight and perfectly spaced, but today I threw it all to the wind and decided to go wonky with some diecut frames.  The stamps I used are from one of my favorite sentiment sets appropriately titled Sentiments and Quotes by Altenew.

To create my card I started by stamping various stars onto a panel of cardstock with Versafine Ink.  Next I added color with several different spray mist colors and set it to the side to dry.  I then stamped my sentiment circle onto a different piece of scrap cardstock and cut it out.  Once the misted panel was completely dry I went about die cutting several wonky frames and layering them with various foam adhesive heights onto a black and white pinstriped patterned piece of paper.  This patterned paper is from a slightly older MFT stack, but there is a fun black and white paper pad by Catherine Pooler called Black Tie Gala that would work just as well.  Finally, I added some gold string behind my cut sentiment and propped this up with more foam tape.

I hope I've inspired you to put your straight lines on hold for the day and try something a little different and fun!
Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

Hope your have a SUBLIME Day

Hi! It's Kerys from Scrappin'n'Happy up on the blog today with some fun Lawn Fawn products! Lawn Fawn is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands right now.

I used Lawn's Fawn's 'You Are Sublime' stamp set for this fun lift-the-flap card. Most of the sets I have used are currently available at the Crafty Doodle Chick store.

I stamped out all of the images and used my prismacolor pencils to color them in. I used the coordinating Lawn Fawn die cuts 'You are Sublime' to cut the pieces out.

For the front of the card, I used a 3 3/4" x 5' white cardstock panel. I used Lawn Fawn's 'Lift the flap Circles' die to cut out the flap. The great thing about the Lawn Fawn dies is that they match perfectly in size with each other! I used the Lawn Fawn 'Porthole frames' to cut out a grey porthole to place around the flap.

I kept the front of the lift-the-flap piece very simple, adding the yellow submarine and sentiment from the You Are Sublime stamp set.

Underneath the flap I made a background 'sea' panel, using chipped sapphire, mermaid lagoon and salty ocean distress inks. I blended them together and added drops of water to the background to make it look more watery.

I added the images from the You Are Sublime stamp set and then covered that panel with clear acetate. That way, none of the images would come off or get stuck on the flap. I added the 'sea' panel onto a piece of blue cardstock measuring 4" x 5 1/4", and then added the white front panel on top.

This was all then added to a standard A2 white card base.

Let's Shell-ebrate!!!

Hello!!!  It's Lisa here today and I'm still in a party mood here after the celebrating the 4th, so I mixed that with the heat we've been experiencing in Ohio and came up with this cutie...
And all of this came from one little mini stamp set called Shell-ebration and with their Brush Waves Stencil! To create my card I started by going over my stencil with various Distress Oxide Inks.  While the stencil was still in place I spritzed it with Distress Resist Spray ( I LOVE how shiny this made my background, and it really added to the water look).  I removed the stencil and covered the background with more distress inks to complete my ocean water.  I finished the panel by diecutting it with a postage die from Winnie and Walter Stamps.
I then stamped and colored the turtles, hat, and presents on separate cardstock and cut it all out.  The sentiment was stamped onto a light blue cardstock with a dark blue ink to blend in with my stenciled background.  I finished the card off by adhering everything together and finally adding that panel onto some patterned paper.  ( I also added a few small sequins for a bubble effect )
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a fantastic weekend!  And stop by the store to check out the new Studio Katia that has just arrived!
Happy Crafting!

Altenew's Mini Hello

Hi! Kerys here today, from Scrappin'n'Happy, with a cute, mini stamp set from Altenew!

As many of you know, flowers are not a big thing of mine, but I thought I would give it a go with Altenew's 'Mini Hello' stamp set in stock at the Crafty Doodle Chick store.

I wanted to make a CAS style card with this set, in a monochromatic color scheme. My go-to is always black and white - you really can't go wrong with this!

I cut out a panel measuring 4" x 5 1/4" from white cardstock and then used an MFT die to create a window.

I randomly stamp all of the flowers and leaves from the set on a scrap piece of white cardstock and adhered this behind the white panel.

I stamped the sentiment onto the front from the same Altenew 'Mini Hello' stamp set.

I added the panel to a standard back A2 card base, and finished the card off with some colorful enamel dots on the small flowers.

I think this card took me a total of 5 minutes to complete! A great go-to card design which can used for any stamp set.
