Watercoloring with new Altenew

Hello, hello!  It's Lisa here with another Friday card!  Today I have the pleasure of sharing a watercolor card featuring the new Altenew Stamp Set: Needlework Motif.  I LOVE the large detailed floral images in this set!  Plus I colored it all in with the new Altenew Watercolors Set, eeeekkk!!!! Now, I know the watercolors are currently sold out in the store, but you can sign your name and email address up to receive a notice for when they are back in stock, yay!!!

Let's venture onto todays card...

To create this card I started by stamping and embossing the beautiful floral flourish off of one edge of the card with glitter embossing powder.  Next, I went in with various watercolors from the set, using a wet on wet technique.  I made sure not to muddy my colors up by letting each color dry  before I added another color next to each other.    While my panel was drying I stamped and embossed my sentiment onto vellum.  Once all of the colors were set I adhered it all onto some gold cardstock and finally onto my cardbase.  I added some sequins as a final touch.

I'm still trying to figure out the pigment ratio with these watercolors, so my shading is not quite what I'd like, but I do like how bold the colors are and I know that with practice it can only improve.  Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you get a chance to check out all of the new Altenew goodies that have just landed in the store!
Happy Crafting!

Life is Better....

Hi! Kerys here from Scrappinnhappy today with one of my favorite brands -  Lawn Fawn! I love this stamps set - Screen Time - perfect for a birthday card for my daughter from her brother!
This stamp set is available from the Crafty Doodle Chick Store.

I stamped all of the images and used copic markers to color them in. Anyone who knows me knows I am NOT a copic colorer! I much prefer my prismacolor pencils. But - I thought I would finally give it a try - so please excuse my first attempt at copic coloring!! I used my Brother Scan'n Cut to cut them all out.

I cut a 2" strip of patterned paper from Lawn Fawn's Really Rainbow Petite Paper pack and added it to the background of a standard A2 side folding white card base.

I die cut the scallop circle from vellum using Lawn Fawn's Outside In Stitched Scalloped Circle Stackables. I love this set and it gives the vellum piece a little more interest.

My son and daughter are beginning to spend a little more time together (when he is back from college!) and so this set was perfect. They love to play on the computer, watch tv/movies and eat junk food! All the things in this set! I added all of these directly to the card, popping some up on foam dots for added dimension. I stamped the controller cords using Black Stazon Ink onto the vellum - a great ink for non-porous surfaces.

I cut apart one of the sentiments from the set, as I didn't;t want the 'watch' word after binge. I wanted it to be about binging on everything together. I love how this turned out!

I was all adhered onto a standard A2 white side folding card base.

Making a Background

Hi!  It's Lisa here today, and I'm sharing a card that highlights my diy background.  I don't know about you, but I love a detailed background.  With a mix of Studio Katia, Altenew, and Gina K.  this card create...

I started by taking a panel of Bristol Cardstock and going over it with the Altenew Sketched Lines Stencil with a light ink.  Next, I stamped the Studio Katia Mandala Flower with Versafine Ink repeatedly over the panel.  I used various Daniel Smith Watercolors (thank you Jennifer!!!) to paint the images in, and then I set it to the side to dry.  While it was drying I stamped a sentiment from the Gina K. Scripty Sayings Set onto a strip of cardstock before I finally layered it all onto my cardbase.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you take a look at your sets and see what backgrounds you can create as well!

Smile!

Hi! Kerys from Scrappin'n'happy here today with one of my favorite brands - aptly called My Favorite Things!
This die is available from the Crafty Doodle Chick Store.

I began by cutting a white panel of cardstock 3.75" x 5" and masked off the top and bottom with post it tape. I used Mermaid Lagoon, Broken China and Tumbled Glass distress inks to create an ombre effect, and added some drops of water for a little textured effect.

I removed the tape and used MFT's Smile die-namic to cut out a word window. I added some acetate behind this panel and used some blue and silver sequins to turn it into a shaker card. I added this to a blue cardstock panel measuring 4" x 5.25" using cardstock from my stash.

The sentiment was stamped using MFT's Anything-but-Basic Birthday Wishes stamp set and cut it out into a banner shape.

I was all adhered onto a standard A2 white side folding card base.

Autumn Season... It's Coming!!!

Hello friends!  Happy Friday to all of you!  It's Lisa here again, and yes I know that summer is still in full blast, but soon enough we will all be putting on our seaters and kicking through leaves in Fall.  And since Fall is my favorite season I decided to play with the new Sunny Studio Stamps Beautiful Autumn Stamps and Amazing Argyle Paper...

Aren't they so fun together?!  I LOVE the colors in this paper pad, it makes Fall seem so cheerful!  And the cute little images in the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set are fun to color plus they can be personalized with faces or a heart or three little dots.  To create my card I started by diecutting three windows.  I stamped my images and colored them in with Spectrum Noir Markers.  I then stamped my sentiment and added a few enamel dots.

I hope I've inspired you to give the little stamp sets a second look as they have so much to offer at a fraction of a cost!  Thanks so much for stopping by today and Happy Crafting!

Winter - yes! I'm starting my Christmas cards!!!

Hi! Kerys from Scrappin'n'happy here today with a combination of Neat and Tangled and My Favorite Things.
These stamps and dies are all available from the Crafty Doodle Chick Store.

I stamped the background using Neat and Tangled 'Hello Winter' stamp set and pale grey ink. I used the same stamp set to stamp the large 'winter' in blue ink, which I then heat embossed with transparent embossing powder.

I used MFT's 'Layered Snowflakes' die-namics to cut out the snowflakes from 2 different blue colors of cardstock from my stash. I added some enamel dots to the centre of each snowflake.

I adhered this panel onto a matching blue background, and then onto a 5.5" x 5.5" white card base.

A Dog Can Change Everything

Hi! Kerys from Scrappin'n happy here on the Crafty Doodle Chick blog today with one of my favorite stamp companies - Whimsy Stamps.

I love all of the new dog stamps that Deb Davis is designing for Whimsy Stamps and I couldn't resist putting this card together. These stamps and dies are all available from the Crafty Doodle Chick Store.

I used the Whimsy Stamps Puppy Paws Background stamp to stamp a piece of kraft card with Versamark Watermark ink. I then heat embossed this with transparent embossing powder. I love the tone-on-tone look.
I cut this panel down to 4" x 5 1/2".

I stamped the sentiment and paw print onto some patterned paper from my stash using Versafine Vintage Sepia ink. The stamps come from Whimsy Stamps Unconditional Love stamp set.

I then used the Whimsy Stamps Wavy Edgers die set to cut this stamped panel along with some cream cardstock from my stash. I then stacked these onto the kraft panel.

I adhered the  panel onto a cream standard A2 sized card base.

Layered Stencil Front and Center

Hello crafty friends!  It is Friday and everyone loves Fridays, so I'm here to share another one of my loves with all of you... Altenew stencils!  I love Altenew in general, but I have recently enjoyed playing with stencils again and Altenew has a wide range of them.  Today's particular project uses the Layered Dahlia Stencil Set, something new to me and I LOVE how it works. ( I feel like I'm using that love word a lot! lol )

And this card came together quickly thanks to this beautiful stencil set.  I started with a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2" panel and adhered stencil A right in the center making sure to cover all of the edges with washi tape.  This not only ensured me that my stencil would stay down but it also helped me create the white border.  Next, I went over stencil B with more distress oxide ink, added a few splashes of water and set it to the side.

My sentiment comes from the Altenew Crafty Life Stamp Set. ( Currently sold out, but you can add your name to the waitlist! :) )  I chose to heat emboss it in gold as I like the color combination with blues.  I adhered it to my stenciled panel with a few pieces of foam adhesive, and that's my card!  Simple, easy, and still beautiful!

Gnomes have feelings too!

Hi! Kerys from Scrappin'n Happy on Crafty Doodle Chick blog today with one of my favorite Stamping Bella stamp sets.

I love anything to do with gnomes! Not the garden gnome variety...more the swedish/norwegian style gnomes! I started collecting a few this last Christmas and drove my husband crazy! So when I saw these stamps in the Crafty Doodle Chick store I knew I must get them. And to match my gnomes at home, I turned them into a Christmas card! This set is called 'Gnomes Have Feelings Too' by Stamping Bella.

I stamped the images and used my prismacolor pencils to color them in. I added some white detailing using a gel pen, and then used my Scan'n cut to cut them out.

I used the 'Outside In Stitched Scallop Circle Stackables' from Lawn Fawn to cut out the centre piece and adhered a notecard from Teresa Collins from my stash behind. I added the gnomes in front, popping then in the center up on pop dots.

I die cut some grey cardstock using Sunny Studios new 'Greetings' die 3 times - stacking them on top of each other for added dimension. I then found a simple 'Christmas' word stamp in my stash to complete the sentiment.

I then adhered the white panel onto a red cardstock panel, and then onto a standard A2 sized card base.
