A Little Holiday Surprise!

A Little Holiday Surprise!

Hi, It's Julissa again from Paper Gems by Jules.  The holidays are just around the corner and it's time to make cards for all those special people in your life.  In this blog post, I'll show you how to take this adorable Gerda Steiner Designs stamp set called Christmas Puppies into a fun interactive card that is sure to bring joy into your next holiday card.

First, stamp two of the same image and fussy cut both of them.  With one stamped image, I cut out the puppy's head, leaving it's paws and the tissue paper attached to the bag image.  For the second stamped image, I trimmed 1/4" off each side of the bag.  This second image will be made to slide up and down.  Color the stamped images as desired.

The next step is working on the background.  For this card, I used some stitched rectangle dies in 3.75" x 5" and 2.75" x 4" to cut two different design papers.  I adhered the smaller rectangle in the middle of the larger rectangle.  Using black Versafine ink, I clear embossed this fun sentiment, leaving room for our pop-up puppy right above.

Now, it's time to make this card pop!  Using my craft knife, I cut a 1/4" channel through the glued design papers that would be slightly smaller than the height of the bag in the image.  Taking the image of the dog's head, I used some foam tape squares and adhered them to the lower part of that piece, so that they could guide the image up and down.  Then I created a pull tab that will adhere to the foam squares behind the rectangle layers.  Once those are joined, you can use some foam tape on the trimmed bag, placing it over the dog, but allowing the dog to come in and out of the bag (as seen in the video).  Lastly, Use some more foam tape behind the large rectangle without putting any tape on the pull tab.  Attached that to the base card and SURPRISE!  You've made a fun, interactive slider card!

I hope this post has inspired you to create an interactive card for this coming holiday.
